Being centered in what I want

When a Mental Break Means Being StoppedI am sitting in front of my computer wanting to write a piece for our blog. Nothing is coming out of my fingertips. I change the software I am writing in…. Still nothing. I turn off my computer and open my Journal to write by hand… Still nothing. I’m stuck! My head is spinning with ideas that I want to write about. It needs to be good, and big, and for sure a piece of writing that deserves to be on our website. Instead of writing, I am busy “thinking” about it! Resistance, as Steven Pressfield calls it in his book “Do the Work” got me.I called Clay to ask for help. His advice to me is: “Be centered in what you want!” That immediately shifted my focus to my purpose, to what I want. I could move again. Being focused on what I want helps me to not listen to the endless chatter of my mind. It allows me to put something I want to say to paper. Just that. It does not even mean that what I am writing is the beginning of the next bestseller in the world of Leadership and coaching, or the worst piece ever written for that matter. It is just something I wanted to say.I am lucky to have a coach, a friend and a good advisor to be able to call and ask for help when I am stuck. He is part of my team. Help is just a phone call away for me.
